Shut up and write! - Roanoke chapter

https://www.meetup.com/shut-up-write-roanoke/

Meets every other Sunday at 1pm!

Shut Up & Write! is a global community that empowers writers to overcome procrastination, silence their inner critic, and make consistent progress on their projects. Our events provide a structured and focused environment where writers can come together, set aside distractions, and achieve their writing goals.

What to Expect

Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, a period of focused writing, and a final check-in to share our progress. Once you arrive, our host will lead introductions, and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing.

In Partnership with Scrap Collective: Final Fridays Analog Craft Night

New series alert!

We’re teaming up with Scrap Collective for Analog Craft Nights: a monthly excuse to put the screens away and make something with your hands.

First up is tote bag decorating! Bring your creativity, we’ll bring the supplies. Tickets are $20 and space is limited so grab your ticket now!

Join us on September 4th as we bring Roanokers together to participate in a global celebration of Ivan Illich’s centenary.

If you're new to Illich's works (e.g. Deschooling Society, Tools for Conviviality, and Shadow Work) or have read them before, this gathering is an opportunity for us to consider and reflect on today's world through the perspective of Illich's social critique.

Join your hosts Crystal Thornebrooke and Jeffrey White for an interactive evening of short readings, discovery, and convivial dialogue in celebration of Illich’s 100th birthday.
